Media Design Hochschule

A Private University for Media, Design, and Creative Industries in Germany.

Mediadesign Hochschule (MD.H) is a private, state-approved university founded in 2004, specialising in media, design, and creative management.

With around 1,000 students spread across campuses in Berlin, Düsseldorf, and Munich, MD.H offers a practice-oriented education built around small seminar groups, close contact with lecturers, and direct links to industry. Its Bachelor’s and Master’s programmes cover areas such as game design, digital film design, fashion management, and media design, giving students a genuinely hands-on route into Germany’s creative sector.

Locations

MD.H’s three campuses sit in some of Germany’s leading creative and media hubs. The Berlin campus, based in Franklinstraße, gives students access to the city’s fast-moving startup and digital arts scene, with many courses taught in English. The Düsseldorf campus sits in the city’s Medienhafen media district, surrounded by companies in advertising, fashion, and communications. The Munich campus places students at the centre of Germany’s media production industry, known for its strong ties to publishers and production companies. Together, the three locations let students choose the creative capital that best matches their interests, while remaining part of one university community.

Academic Strengths

MD.H’s programmes focus on practice-based, project-oriented learning rather than lecture-heavy theory, with students working on real briefs alongside industry partners throughout their studies. The curriculum spans media design, game design, digital film design, fashion management, media management, and design and digital leadership, with a mandatory practical semester built into most degrees so students gain direct work experience before graduating. Small seminar groups and close relationships with lecturers are a defining feature of teaching across all three campuses, supported by a network of thousands of business partnerships built up over more than two decades.

Facilities

CBS International Business School provides modern facilities designed to support practical learning, collaboration, and student wellbeing across its campuses. Students benefit from contemporary lecture halls, digital classrooms, libraries, collaborative study spaces, computer labs, and innovation-focused learning environments. Many campuses also offer student lounges, cafés, event spaces, and career support centres that encourage networking and community engagement.

The Cologne campus, as the university’s largest international location, features advanced teaching facilities and dedicated spaces for workshops, presentations, and business simulations. Across all campuses, students have access to digital learning platforms, academic resources, and support services designed to create a flexible and career-oriented study environment. The university’s strong business partnerships also allow students to participate in practical projects, internships, company visits, and networking events with employers across Germany and internationally.

International Student Support

MD.H supports its student body through Germany’s well-established creative and media networks, offering personal coaching and career guidance designed to connect students with real contacts in the industry. International students benefit from campuses located in major, culturally diverse cities, along with access to English-taught courses and active exchange partnerships with cooperation universities abroad. The university’s long track record, sizeable alumni base, and extensive network of business partners give international students a solid foundation for building a career in Germany’s creative industries after graduation.
